The Nikon D780 is a versatile full-frame camera, and will shine in still and video applications. The D780 has a 24.5 MP backside illuminated
FX sensor, allowing it to gather light for highly detailed photos and clean low
light shots. This new camera also offers slow motion and time lapse video,
remote-less long exposure, extremely fast shutter speeds, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity that
allows you to wirelessly transfer your images.
The combination of the sensor and the EXPEED 6 image
processor provide a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100–51200,
extendable to ISO 50–204800 resulting in especially clear results and reduced noise levels.
UHD
4K recording is possible using either the full-frame area or a DX crop area in
30p, 25, or 24p frame rates and Full HD 1080p video recording is also supported
at up to 120p for slow motion playback, with integrated N-Log Gamma and HLG
settings for refined color control. Additionally
in-camera time lapse recording is possible, having the ability to record sequential 2MP stills at
120 fps.
Optical viewfinder users will utilize a 51-point, 15
cross-type sensor AF system, that provides extremely fast and sharp auto-focusing. In Live View, stills and videos benefit from
a 273-point phase-detection AF system, which cover appx 90% of the imaging
area, and now includes subject tracking technology and Eye-Detection AF.
The intelligent Scene Recognition System with 3D Color Matrix Metering III uses a 180k-pixel RGB sensor and
Advanced Scene Recognition (same as in the D850) that analyze all aspects in a
scene, i.e. brightness, contrast, subject distance, and the scene colors, to determine
an accurate exposure and white balance setting to best render the scene at
hand.
The body design on this camera is also notable. The pentaprism optical viewfinder covers 100%
of the frame with a 0.7x magnification and the large 3.2" 2.36m-dot rear
LCD screen now tilts and boasts a touch screen, giving you control over menus,
playback, AF and many other functions.
Dual SD memory card slots support the UHS-II standard for fast
read/write speeds.
