This is Canon's L series 100mm Macro lens with Image Stabilization. It is one of our most popular lenses and always receives good reviews. The image quality is wonderful and build quality is solid L series. It focuses as close as 12 inches from the subject, enabling you to fill the frame with objects like the flowers on a wedding cake or the details of a work of art. The magnification is 1:1. The addition of the image stabilizer is very helpful because it's common to be taking detailed shots in low light situations.
Besides the macro work, this lens performs very well as a general purpose 100mm f/2.8 lens. Use it for portraits and events, it produces extremely sharp images. There is a touch of softness in the corners at f2.8, but still excellent quality.
